Story
I'm driving a project that could provide support and education for orphaned or deprived children in Sri Lanka. These kids might otherwise have their potential limited by the challenges all around them, arising from 26 years of civil war and the devastating impact of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami (which killed 35,000, including many parents, and left 500,000 homeless).
We have started a "YOU-nami" of people in the water to raise £10,000 that will go to the Ocean Stars Trust, a UK registered charity, working on the ground in Sri Lanka on projects to provide that much needed support and education. Here is their website: http://oceanstars.org.uk/home
Your sponsorship would be gratefully received. We would raise even more money if you joined the team (see "swimmers for possibility" link below), set your own personal swimming challenge and raise sponsorship through this page.
What could you do? Swim a mile/kilometer/100 lengths (or whatever distance presents a challenge to you) in a single session, swim further over a number of sessions, pick a distance and swim it as a team, learn to swim if you can't, compete with others or other teams in any of these. Be creative!
Thank you for your generoristy!
