Story
The race: Yak Attack is the highest mountain bike race in the world and regarded as one of the hardest cycle races on earth. The 11 day event takes place in Nepal during March and covers 400km, climbing over 12,000 metres including a crossing of the Thorung La Pass (5416m), the highest mountain pass in the world . To date only 9 international riders have completed the event unassisted. To find out more watch the video in the 'My gallery' section or visit http://yak-attack.co.uk/. For the record, no animals will be harmed...
The cause: I hope to raise £10,000 for the Gurkha Welfare Trust in memory of Spr Ishwor Gurung, a Queen's Gurkha Engineer soldier tragically killed during my tour of Afghanistan. The aspiration is to use this money to build a school near Sapper Ishwor’s Nepali home in remembrance of his sacrifice.
The appeal: As Project Engineer of the Gurkha Welfare Scheme I am in the unusual and fortunate position to oversee this project from foundation to inauguration. Please dig deep to help me build a meaningful and lasting tribute to Sapper Ishwor and in so doing help bring critical education infrastructure to the children of his village.
Thank you for your support
