Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit Yvonne's JustGiving page.

Our sister, Yvonne, was a vibrant, fun loving physiotherapist who had a passion for life and for helping others, especially children. Her smile, laugh, enthusiasm and dedication will live with us all for ever.

Yvonne suffered the devastating psychological, social and physical effects of bipolar illness for more than half of her short 51 years and the illness caused her to take her own life on Saturday 23rd May 2015.

We want others to know that there was not an inevitability in Yvonne taking her own life. She loved life and often said she 'wanted her life back'. Tragically the depth of Yvonne's depression and a number of factors combined to lead to her untimely and avoidable death.

Our family, and Yvonne's friends, will forever be affected by the impact of Yvonne's illness and we are committing ourselves to raise funds to influence how bipolar is understood, treated and tackled in the future.
