Fundraising for Sussex Cancer Fund
Story
Hello, well here we are again. Thank you for taking time to visit my just giving page.
I know I said I may never run another marathon, I know not many believed but I really meant it. However things changed and I had to come out of retirement for one last time well (last two times)if you count the the fact that I'm doing two marathons in two weeks. My charity got a place for London and as my Friend Dawn said it would be very rude to turn it down. Last year I ran Brighton Marathon to raise money to buy a reclining chair for our relatives through the Sussex Cancer Fund. This was achieved,Thank you for all the donation because now we have 3 chairs because some patient and their relatives found it so comfortable that they offered to buy more.This has made such a difference to our patients.
This year I'm raising money for the Sussex Cancer Fund in general. Since 1981 The Sussex Cancer Fund has been giving invaluable assistance to The Sussex Cancer Centre and our inpatient ward at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton. This is assistance is the form of additional equipment and building improvements for the treatment and comfort of cancer patients attending the departments.
Despite the provision of funds from the NHS, we are in constant need of more money and must turn to the generosity of the people we are here to help - the people of Sussex.
In the new year our inpatient ward will be relocating to a new (temporal) building and the
Sussex Cancer Fund will play a major role in helping us with the much needed equipment and furniture for our new building amongst other things. This will help improve the environment we care for our patients in making them comfortable whilst being in hospital.
I'm grateful for the opportunity to run in London as it's something I've wanted to do for a longtime and chances like this don't come
everyday. Training for and running a marathon is not easy. It's requires motivation, dedication, time and sacrifice. A full time job and family life can sometimes get in the way.
