Story
Although we live in Nottinghamshire, we are a St Bride's and a Fleet Street family: St Bride's means a lot to me as I was married there, our eldest daughter was baptised there and my father's funeral took place at St Bride's. As well as a place of worship, the Church has a wonderful choir and is a centre for music and for lively debate.
St Bride's Fleet Street is a flourishing city church in a largely non-residential area of London. Although the national newspaper industry physically left the street long ago, the church is still the spiritual home of journalists and the media. St Bride's is considered one of the finest works by architect, Christopher Wren. It survived the Blitz and its tiered spire was the inspiration for the traditional wedding cake. The church needs expensive repairs and seeks to preserve its iconic spire. Please help me to help St Bride's.
I don't suppose I am thought of as a boozer, but - after a busy week working in a secondary school - I tend to drink too much on Friday and Saturday nights. Friday evenings without a 6pm hit of alcohol will challenge me!
