Story
The ride has been ridden. It was just fantastic. The best memories. Thanks so much for all the amazing support…….But the story continues….. Two of Angela's brothers, Mike and Andy, couldn't make the bike ride…..so they committed to walking the Dales Way (80miles) over three days. They will set off from Bowness on 22nd September arriving in Ilkley on the 24th. It would be great if you could support 'a bit of a walk'.
Below is the original story…...
Three generations of one family, aged 10 - 80, are taking part in an epic cycling challenge from the 19th to the 26th August 2016.
We are one family, one team, and we have one mission: to ride our bikes 250 miles around the Irish coast from Donegal Town to The Giant's Causeway.
Angela, Emily, Jack, Chris, Maria, Hannah, Gemma, Sam, Ant, Bob, Ian, Joe, Ben, Lucy, Marg, Dan and Matthew are the riders.
Mike, Margaret, Carl and Bill are the support crew.
Our own family has had to deal with incurable illness and we understand the need to create lasting memories or to just have a much needed break from the stresses of ongoing treatment.
Our inspiration is Angela Sturgeon. She was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer nearly 5 years ago. Since then she has had 3 cycles of chemotherapy and has been on several trial drugs. Last year she cycled 250 miles from Bath to Liverpool with her friends. Together they raised over £30,000 for Target Ovarian Cancer.
The aim of 'a bit of break' is to enable others in a similar situation to create their own special memories or to simply have some time away.
We have been very kindly gifted time in self-catering properties in magical parts of the country, which we will be able to offer to families and carers.
Carers' Resource is a charity that is part of a National Network. They will manage the fund and create the link between the families and the accommodation.
All the money raised will be used to provide travel to the property, a welcome pack, cleaning of the accommodation and any other support required to make the stay stress free.
By supporting our ride you will be providing essential funds and making a real difference to those who need it.
