Hi! We're Tom (HTB), Bren (HTB) and Shenali (St Peters Brighton) and as a team, we are going on a Global Alpha Training (GAT) trip to Sierra Leone, Africa on the 16th of March!

In partnership with a local team from Sierra Leone, we will deliver a three day training event to religious leaders from various denominational backgrounds on how to run the Alpha Course.

We have been invited by local churches in Sierra Leone, who want to share the good news that Jesus can transform lives and give purpose with the help of Alpha Courses and want to know how to start running Alpha themselves.

We feel so honoured to have this opportunity to deliver training that will enable them to join in the thousands of churches sharing the gospel through Alpha.

What is Alpha?

Alpha is a 10 week course which provides an opportunity for people from all ages and beliefs to grasp the 'big questions in life' in a very open and informal environment and to find out what Christianity is fundamentally all about. Alpha is now run in 166 countries and 17 million people worldwide have attended the course.

Alpha has seen many lives transformed, as people leave the courses feeling empowered to make something positive out of their lives and within the community. Whatever your beliefs, growing the number of people that have this opportunity is worthy of support! What does a GAT involve?

The three day event will outline the necessary elements needed to run a successful Alpha course in their church - from the suggested general approach to the practical and logistical details. We are currently expecting around 80 leaders representing 20 churches from Lungi and surrounding areas. We have been trained to ensure that we can teach these leaders effectively.

What else are we doing?

Social transformation is important to us and since we will be in Sierra Leone, we would like to offer our support to a local charity and help them where we can (details coming soon!) 

How can you be part of it?

It is because of the amazing potential that knowing Jesus will have on the people of Sierra Leone that we are doing this but we can't do it alone. We ask that you pray with faith that change will come to Sierra Leone through these courses.

In terms of financial support, we will be funding this trip ourselves including flights, our accomodation, VISAs, vaccinations etc.

But it's the hosting church that needs help with finances to run this event. As people will be coming from across Sierra Leone, we would really appreciate your help to bless the local churches financially and to cover their additional costs such as accomodation and resources associated with running the event.
