Story
I was first diagnosed with breast cancer aged 39 and had lost my mother to breast cancer 7 years earlier aged 60. I was devastated. Not for me but for my very young four sons.Thankfully after a year of gruelling treatment I survived. Having a large appetite for life we continued happily as a family with the usual highs and lows of everyday life. All was well until March six years ago aged 54 I was diagnosed with breast cancer again which had spread to the lymph nodes. This time I was not devastated as the shock was not overwhelming. Life is a gift. I had chemotherapy and radiotherapy again and am still taking medication. Three years ago I had the other breast removed and both were reconstructed using tissue from my stomach. The surgery was extremely gruelling but a wonderful doctor Mr Koshy inspired me with his help and enthusiasm. I have nothing but praise for the N.H.S and believe I would not be here without this institution. I would like to raise money particularly for breast reconstruction for cancer patients and do hope that my dear family and friends will help to do this.
There is life with cancer and the more we raise funds this will become the norm and not the exception.
Thank you.
