Story
Arctic Rugby Challenge - Paul Jordan has come together with Children's rugby charity Wooden Spoon and world class maritime and polar adventurer, Jock Wishart on a pioneering expedition to the Magnetic North Pole. The intrepid adventurers include former rugby union internationals Tim Stimpson (England & British & Irish Lions) and Ollie Phillips (England 7s & Gloucester). The match ref will be England and British & Irish Lion legend Lee Mears.
I will be joining Jock, Tim and Ollie as an expedition challenger, embarking on this world record breaking trek to the Magnetic North Pole (MNP) in April/May 2015. We will set out from Resolute Bay, Canada and ski/trek the final 100 miles in Arctic conditions over frozen sea and land to reach the MNP before playing the northernmost rugby match in history. Setting a World Record in the process.
For me this will be quite a challenge in its own right having survived a major stroke in 2010. It was something I really wanted to do and raise money for a very worthy cause at the same time.
We will learn how to survive harrowing winds, avoid and scare away polar bears, physical & mental fatigue and temperatures as low as -50C with wind chill
