Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit our page and for considering making a donation in memory of our wonderful Son Arthur. While we were only blessed with him for a very short time, we would like to celebrate, and remember, every second of his precious life.
On Thursday 19th June 2014 we received the devastating news that Arthur's heart had stopped beating. Our world, as we knew it, ended at this moment, along with all our hopes and dreams for his future. He was born, absolutely perfect, at 11:38pm on Friday 20th June, weighing 8lbs 4 oz and measuring 56cm. He's the most beautiful gift we have ever been blessed with and we treasured every moment we were able to spend with him; from his gorgeous soft skin and smell to his whopping hands and feet (perfect paddles for swimming!). We were able to dress, cuddle and hold him - some of the happiest moments of our lives!
While this has been such a very difficult and sad time we were fortunate that Arthur was born at Wythenshawe hospital. The team (lead by the wonderful bereavement midwife Chris Navin), specialist equipment (including a Cold Cot to give us extra time with him, which meant our family met him) and space (including the Snowdrop Room for us to stay together, as a family in) we were given there have made a huge difference and brought light to such a dark time. We can't thank the staff enough for our care and for the loving way in which Arthur was treated. Coming home without him we were comforted to know we were trusting him to very safe, respectful and caring hands.
We were surprised to hear how little of their extraordinary work is funded by the NHS, and that the team rely very much on donations and fundraising to be able to provide support for each bereaved family. We would like to help with this as much as we can, so have set up this page in Arthur's memory. We will be running one-off and annual events to raise funds for the Wythenshawe Baby Memorial Fund / Snowdrop Charity and would like to thank you all for your contributions to this. If you would like to fundraise for Arthur please contact us on elladunn@live.com
Other ways to help:
Every day, in the UK, 17 babies are stillborn or die shortly after birth. Please sign the petition, on the link below, to help encourage the Government to make Cold Cots compulsory in every NHS hospital. So that no family is deprived of precious time with their baby:

Can you knit? The hospital accept donations of knitted blankets, hats, teddies etc that are then given to babies who are stillborn or die shortly after birth. You can see the beautiful blanket and blue teddy that Arthur was given, in some of our photographs.
