Story
Our hearts have been devastated by the loss of our little girl as she was born sleeping at 28 weeks. It is not till I was affected that I learned that one in every 200 births ends in a stillbirth in the UK. It is very sad that it is not till you are personally affected that you are made aware of the devastating statistics and the feelings that affect so many people on a daily basis. The comfort from our family was our saving grace and our extended family and friends waiting and willing to give their support.
As I leave the bubble and return to the reality of life I am very thankful to Queen Charlotte hospital staff who were outstanding in their care especially the bereavement mid wife who was with us step by step and helped us survive. There are great supports for families who experience Stillbirth and in honour of our beautiful baby girl, we will be running (maybe walking) the 10km Run Richmond on Saturday 3rd September to raise money for Petals – specialist counselling service for parents affected by Stillbirth, Neonatal, Death, Loss of Pregnancy, Poor / fatal fetal diagnosis………… Petals raise awareness, through marketing research and training, of the need for psychological care for parents who suffer emotional distress in pregnancy and birth.
If you would like to join us sign up for the run https://thefixevents.com/run-richmond-park-5k-and-10k-race-7-2016 or give support by donating. It is all about building awareness and giving back to those who were there for us in our time of need.
