As we approach the last trimester a few people have asked if there is anything we want for our baby. It's a question we've had much time to think about and about the middle of 2013 we decided that we wanted an addition to our family to mean more than just an extra person around. Our journey has not been an easy one, but we've been supported by friends and family who've been there to pray, cry and laugh with us.
What we'd like you to consider:
Our Church has recently partnered with a small orphanage and school in the village of Kapote, Malawi and we're asking you to consider making a donation towards the work there rather than buying something for the baby (who's already being spoilt by their grandparents!). They will have so much more just from being born in the UK and we'd like to see other children get something of the same start in life. It costs just £13 a term for schooling for one child but an education is something you really cannot attach a price tag to.
The Church we attend is part of the Elim Pentecostal denomination and they have an established network across Malawi. All money donated through this page will be directed specifically to their work around Kapote, Malawi.

A glimpse of our journey:
Christmas 2012 was spent waiting for results from an ultrasound scan and for details of a gynae appointment. Much of 2013 was spent going back and forth from the local hospital, blood tests and a fertility specialist. Hannah had an operation in June 2013 that resolved some of the problems and made identifying the others easier. The whole situation became physically easier on a day-to-day basis even if emotionally it was still draining. By October we thought we might have made it to the end of the journey before a miscarriage in November. Every time we were given an expected physical recovery time the reality was a few days and not the weeks suggested. Looking back it is much easier to see where God was at work than it was at the time.
Finding out that Hannah was pregnant again in January was a surprise to us, but not to those who’d continued praying! One of the Elders at Church had said we’d have a baby by Christmas 2014, though Hannah had refused to believe it. Further testimony of God’s peace that surpasses any human understanding came the night of a threatened miscarriage, when sent home from the hospital at 2am to rest we both slept through until the alarm went off to go back in for a scan in more sociable hours. Now we are just looking forward to September, no sleep and meeting Sproglet face to face.
We’ve had the privilege of being treated by a consultant who also prayed for us and support from friends and family along a journey no one asks for or imagines undertaking. Standing at the start of 2013 if we’d known what would unfold I doubt we’d have had the strength to start out. We’ve learnt first-hand what it means to be carried in the Father’s hands and have also been reminded of just how faithful He is in spite of our doubts and questions.
Being given such a precious gift is enough for us and we really would like you to consider supporting the work in Malawi that we’ve outlined above.
