Story

PICK THE WINNER AND WIN A M&S LUXURY HAMPER

Let me introduce to you the Barnett Trophy, a mangy old plastic trophy with decidedly dodgy engraving, but nonetheless, a prize for which Jamie and I have given blood, sweat and tears over the years to win playing squash, the tears of which have been mostly mine I have to add!

So Jamie and I got talking, and we decided we should put this to bed once and for all. On Sunday 9th October, Jamie and I will race in Guildcare’s Walk to Remember 10k 2016 Challenge supported by Fielding Financial, the winner of which will be awarded the trophy, and as it will be in public this time, the gloves will be off!

So why are we telling you? Well, for each £10 donated to GuildCare through the link below (before tax), the donor will be given the choice of putting 1 raffle ticket into either Jamie’s box or Nick’s box. On the finish line, we will perform the draw from the winning runner’s box with a M&S Luxury Hamper as the prize donated by Nick and Jamie.

So who is the favourite? Well, it really is too tight to call, but here are some clues to help you pick the winner:

Jamie Barnett
Age: 42
Profile: The young (ish) pretender, Jamie is a Guinness World Record Holder for the Longest Squash Match in 2015 playing non-stop for 38 hours. In training for his record, Jamie ran 6-9 miles, 2-3 times a week and even ate some vegetables. Jamie has also run the Madrid Marathon.

Nick Barnett
Age: 48
Profile: Older but not necessarily wiser, Nick's squash is equal to the occasion and battles with Jamie have been a close-run thing, Jamie just edging the last two. Nick has run the London Marathon twice in 4 hours and the Great North Run in 1:37. On first glance the odds look stacked in Jamie’s favour, however Nick has the advantage of carrying a lot less hair.

So there you go, it’s over to you. What are you waiting for...just click the Donate button and don't forget to nominate your winner in the donations text.

Thank You and Good Luck.
