Story
Do you see this little girl in this photo?
She is one of many thousands of children who are at risk of
freezing to death over the next few months in Europe. I can't just sit there
in the comfort of my warm, safe home and let that happen. So I want to do
something to help. If I can save the life of one child - that would be amazing.
To save the lives of a 100 children - even better. But to achieve that
goal I am going to need some help. Your help.
I know a really fantastic small charity called Humanitas. Their doctors have been helping to respond to the tragic refugee crisis that has been unfolding across Europe for the last few months. They are carrying out medical checks, providing medical treatment and supplies to those in need. The situation is very serious. Children with diabetes are being denied insulin. People's feet are rotting. One poor father was sobbing as he was beaten by a guard and forced onto a train before he could find his wife and children - he will probably never see his family again.
A team of volunteers is heading over to Hungary in the next few weeks. My goal is to help them stock up with Mediwraps. Many of the blankets being distributed to refugees at present are heavy and when it rains they get wet, cold and even heavier - as such they're being abandoned. So we want to give out mediwraps that are light, waterproof and will actually keep people warm.
A mediwrap costs £6. That is as much as a cheap bottle of plonk from the corner shop. Will you please join me in giving up that bottle of wine and buy a mediwrap instead.
£6 is all I am asking for.
Thank you.
With love and warmth,
Becky
P.s. my original target was 100 blankets but as you wonderful people smashed that in less than 24 hours I have upped it to 200 blankets. Your generosity is humbling and much appreciated. THANK YOU!
