Story
I'm 35, have an amazing and loving family, lots of friends, a good job and a house in York - I don't need anything else.
So, this year I'm asking my family and friends (and anyone else) to give any money they would have spent on Christmas gifts for me to Age UK York instead in the hope that they can provide some festive cheer for lonely and vulnerable elderly people this year.
Or, if you're feeling generous and festive, you could just donate anyway...even if you don't know me.
What your donations could buy this Christmas:
- £10 could buy one winter warmth pack – hot water bottle, thermal hat and socks, blanket, thermos flask and torch – to help vulnerable older people through the coldest months of the year
- £20 could pay for an older person to spend a day at their local Age UK and enjoy a hot lunch, activities and chance to meet friends
- £50 could buy 2 emergency heaters for an older person at serious risk of the cold, because of broken heating
