Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Breda's story:

After over 6 months of going to her GP with various symptoms and turned away, Breda was eventually rushed to St. Marys hospital when they realised that the allergic reaction the GP diagnosed was actually the sign of a serious blockage on her vena carva and could have killed her........................... if she hadn't have gone into hospital straight away she wouldn't be with us today. That day in July 2013 she was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer which had already spread to her bones. The  doctors at St.Mary's booked her in straight away for a stent to be put into the vein which would make it possible for the blood to continue to flow to her heart and keep her alive.

After trying two attempts of chemo for the cancer in August, the doctors found that the cancer was still spreading whilst on the chemo so had to take her off it. Which devastated our chances of some reduction in the cancer. Mum was then given the likely-hood of weeks/ a couple of months to live.

The doctors tried one week of radiotherapy which again appeared to not really change anything.

We always knew our mum was such a strong woman but her response to this and her attitude of never giving up has completely amazed us and after being diagnosed 9 months ago, and not having any treatment she is still doing amazingly well and is refusing to give up!!

She is still doing really well but because of the severity of the cancer the doctors  cant really tell us what will happen next.

She feels eternally grateful to St.Mary's for taking her seriously and diagnosing the cancer  so promptly in comparison to the GP. She is thankful that they have successfully fitted the stent into her vena carva which has in no doubt assisted in keeping her alive so far . She also wants to thank them for their care and compassion that she has received whilst under their care.

Mum has decided she wants to give back to the hospital and help them to continue their amazing service.

On Saturday 10th May 2014 mum will be abseiling down the tallest permanent abseiling tower in the world (for a 65 year old woman that's scared of heights and after what she's been through this truly is some achievement). Mum and us her family would be so thankful if you our friends/ family's/ colleagues and anyone who wants to help her could kindly donate......... no matter how small the amount it will help support mums mission in helping St.Marys help others..... remember every little really does help..

Thank you for reading and thank you in advance for any sponsorship that you may be able to give.
