Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. On Saturday 7th February 2015 Paul and I tragically lost our 21 month son, Rex.  He was a happy, healthy, extroverted little boy with a twinkle in his eye, a ray of sunshine with a gift for making people smile. We put him to bed for his afternoon nap and he never woke up, he died peacefully in his sleep.

One of the hardest aspects of losing Rex is that there isn't a definitive explanation. The wording on his autopsy states "for unknown reasons, his body seems to have produced an exaggerated response to an infection resulting in possible cardiopulmonary failure.  As a result we are passionate about funding research into why toddlers unexpectedly and inexplicably die in their sleep (it happens around once a month to 1-2 year olds in England and Wales). Through the Lullaby Trust, we have been informed that a leading paediatric professor at Great Ormond Street Hospital, Neil Sebire, has research waiting to be undertaken into the sudden deaths of the over 1's. The two year research project will cost £100,000.

NEWS: We are currently looking at the possibilities for the international charity SUDC.org to work with the Lullaby Trust to make this a worldwide study. Fingers crossed. At the moment we can't fundraise for The SUDC Foundation via justgiving.com. Laura Crandall and her team in the US are a phenomenal team who have supported us as a family on a daily basis and have offered to test Rex's DNA cells for further underlying reasons why he succumbed to this particular infection.  If you'd like to help us fundraise for The SUDC Foundation Please visit www.sudc.org/Rex  We appreciate any donation you can make, even pennies. Thank you
