Christmas is a time for sharing– gifts, treats and above all joy and happiness. But in Oxfordshire an estimated 10,400 people over 65 say they are often or always lonely. 

Loss of friends and family can make older people especially vulnerable to feeling alone, and many go for long periods of time without seeing or speaking to anyone. A friendly chat on the phone can make all the difference.

Age UK Oxfordshire offers a vital service to older people who are isolated and alone.  Phone Friends is a free and confidential telephone befriending service for older people across the county.   

The Oxford Mail is supporting Age UK Oxfordshire to be there for older people who feel Lonely this Christmas.
