Story
Ava Helene Atkinson was born on 26th May 2014. She was moved to the neonatal unit and put on a ventilator to help her breathe. After many tests, it was found Ava had suffered a bleed on her brain and was unable to breathe on her own.
Ava was to poorly to be moved to a specialist children's hospital and was to remain under the care of the staff at the Alexandra hospital who worked tirelessly to make Ava comfortable.
Hours later Ava's condition had not improved and we as parents with advice from the care team had to make the most devastating decision of our lives and withdraw treatment.
Minutes after coming of the ventilator Ava passed away peacefully with her family around her except for myself (Ava's Daddy) as I was flying back into the Country from Benidorm and only in touch by phone.
At the hospital we were given a memory box to cherish memories of Ava. The box has brought comfort to us all and I decided to put together our own boxes for parents who have suffered the loss of a baby.
