Story

The number of people being diagnosed with dementia is increasing. Almost everyone knows someone with dementia. When someone with dementia has to come into hospital it can be a very stressful time. Bolton NHS Charitable fund is hoping to raise £200,000 to create a dementia friendly environment at the Royal Bolton Hospital. This type of environment will be designed to create a more home like feel and will help patients to feel more relaxed about their surroundings. The use of colours and textures will make it easier for patients to find their way around the ward and the use of memory provoking software will make it feel like a familiar environment. These types of environments have helped to reduce the time spent in hospital by up to 3 days.
