Story
The worst drought in decades has hit Ethiopia. Already 8.2 million people are in need of emergency food aid. This figure could rise to 15 million if something isn’t done. The UN has said "food insecurity is forecast to worsen over the coming months, especially in Ethiopia".
The effect of the drought has dramatically reduced the supply of water and ruined the harvest for many farmers. The large pond facilitated by CPA and Tearfund is empty and people are walking miles to get water. There are dead cattle at roadsides and fields full of dead crops. Locals told us that they may have enough to last until the end of December.
Our partners VWDO have previous experience with food relief programmes. They have been asked by the Ethiopian Government to focus in the areas where they work. We want to work with VWDO to mobilise resources, help with food relief and nutritional supplements for younger children.
Every penny you give will go straight to the relief programme.
