On the evening of 2 December, Chennai was officially declared a disaster area due to the heaviest rainfalls in a century, leading to inundation in many areas of the city. These floods have left three million cut off from basic services to date. Medical personnel and supplies are needed immediately to continue treating thousands of displaced people.
Isha Foundation is currently offering critical medical aid to the victims in Chennai, Cuddalore and Villupuram through its mobile clinics and health camps. Isha volunteers are working tirelessly supporting the distribution of relief materials, food and amenities to those in the flood afflicted areas. Although they have already treated over 24,000 people - demand surpasses the current resources.
