Story
Among dangerous barbed wire and metal, poisonous plants, hazardous litter… We found Kiara. Trying to survive amongst it were around 100 horses. Neglected, mistreated and traumatised. She was scared and had a foal at foot (Horace). We knew we had to get them both to safety quickly.
Back at The Mare & Foal Sanctuary, they were checked by our vet. Horace was fine, but mum was frightened, malnourished and riddled with parasites. We also discovered she was pregnant.
Kiara was in such a bad way when she arrived we feared for the safety of her unborn foal. Several months later, with our vet on standby, Kiara delivered a healthy foal called Winston. It was amazing.
Kiara has recently moved to our Upcott Park site where she’s recovering really well in the large, flat fields and fresh air. She deserves a new life.
Kiara is slowly recovering. £1000 could go towards providing Kiara and horses like her with the help they need.
