Story
This September The Hearty Fools are going from Mizen to Malin again, but this time taking the longer route up the east coast. This is a massive challenge of circa 900km over 6 days. We are hoping that through your generosity, we will again raise funds for 2 charities, the Mater Foundation and the Irish Cancer Society.
The Mater Hospital is where Frank McMyler was treated after his heart attack and triple by-pass in 2010. The money raised for the Mater Foundation will go towards a device called an Impella. This is a pumping device, used after patients have had a heart attack, or for those whose heart is unable to supply adequate blood flow to their vital organs. The device reduces the work load on the heart, and aids recovery.
Anne Gaffney, our chief organiser, was diagnosed and treated for Breast Cancer in 2015. Having lost other family members to cancer she is hoping to raise funds for preventative research into this disease that affects so many people today.
Thank you for your support!
