Story

“I am Ashmita. My father passed away. Due to poverty and my mom’s poor health, I left school to look after her. Kopila-Nepal visited us and provided counselling to my mum and suggested she join the a Self Help Group. They supported me as I returned to school. My mom received vegetable and goat farming training and she also plays an active role in advocating for women and people in difficulties. I am thankful to Kopila-Nepal and it’s supporters for their generosity. I e and my friends can now dream for higher education.”

Kopila-Nepal works amongst one of the most discriminated against people groups in the world, the Dalits and also amongst some of the lower scheduled castes in this Hindu society. The area was hit by the earthquake in April 2015 and this has stretched Kopila greatly.

Supporting WDR's marathon participants will help Kopila and other WDR partners work alongside local people to change their situation and build a brighter future for themselves and their children.
