Story
Kericho District Hospital is situated in Kenya, East Africa. The hospital serves residents from within the County and other neighbouring Counties.
Neonatal mortality (death during first 28 days of life) remains very high. At Kericho District Hospital an average of 20 new born babies die every month.
Fresh Still Births at Kericho District Hospital are also at an alarming rate with an average of 15 Fresh Still Births experienced every month.
35 babies are dying every month at Kericho District Hospital.
These issues are attributed to;
- delays in seeking medical attention during labour and delivery,
- poor sanitation leading to high risk of infection,
- a limited number of delivery beds,
- inadequate equipment in the current delivery rooms,
- long waiting times for bed space in delivery rooms.
