Story

Studying architecture is not what it used to be. It now costs in excess of £88,000 to finish studying, causing the loss of ambitious, talented and industrious students to our profession.

RIBA’s Student Hardship Fund is designed to make architecture accessible and we believe that no matter what your background, if you have a passion to be an architect you should be able to fulfil it.

With the help of the RIBA I have been able to continue a high level of study and research without the added pressures of otherwise crippling and stressful additional costs.” - Joe Morizzo, Student Hardship Fund recipient

If you’re an established architect, a relative of someone studying or just want to see young people excel in their field without the constraints of crippling debt then please donate to us today

Every penny that comes in goes directly back into helping students across the UK and together we can make sure the architects of the future are helped along their way.

RIBA’s Student Hardship Fund is designed to make architecture accessible to all. We at RIBA are strong believers in that no matter what your background, if you have a passion to be an architect you should be able to fulfil it. It now costs an architecture student around £88,000 to complete their education. This means that talented, ambitious and driven young people are being ousted from the profession due to financial hardship. It also means that Architecture is losing out, from a lack of diversity, versatility and imagination that comes from professions that are truly open to all. At RIBA we want to fix this, relieve the debt of young architects and make the profession accessible for all to flourish in. The Student Hardship Fund was set up in 1997. To date we have helped hundreds students, with grants of over £85,000 being awarded last year alone. Every penny that comes in to the Student Hardship Fund goes directly back out to help architecture students across the UK. If you’re an established architect, a relative of a studying one or just want to see young people excel in their field without the constraints and worries of debt then please donate to RIBA’s Student Hardship Fund today. Together we can make sure the architects of the future are helped along their way.
