Story
For Rutland In Rutland (FRIR) was launched in June 2014 as a fundraising group for Citizens Advice Rutland, generating funds for an adviser offering free, confidential and impartial advice to local people affected by cancer, dementia, strokes and other long term health conditions.
Reducing stress and improving wellbeing by sorting out problems on housing, employment, relationship, debt and income is particularly important to those also having to cope with a long term medical condition. The additional cost of transport to medical appointments or the increased cost of heating for someone who is housebound can also cause stress, so checking what help they are entitled to can make a huge difference to their wellbeing. Since the project started, we have been able to secure more than £320,000 for clients in benefits or grants.
Demand for the service has far outweighed our expectations and with an ageing population will continue to grow, so our funding is even more vital than before….
