Story
In a city where 34% of the population are 14 years old or younger, over half of Jerusalem’s children live below the poverty line. Poverty in childhood has profound effects on children’s health throughout their lifetimes. Shaare Zedek was one of the first hospitals in Israel to recognise the need for specialist paediatric medical facilities. It recently opened Jerusalem's first dedicated women and children's hospital bringing together many of the hospital’s centres of excellence, the heads of which are internationally recognised specialists in their fields. Key departments include Paediatric Emergency, Neonatal Intensive Care and a two storey dedicated Children’sHospital.
It is a not for profit private hospital so all of this is only made possible with your help. The UK has been generously supporting the centre for more than seventy years. It compassionately serves everyone regardless of means, nationality or religion. It is the fastest growing hospital in the city.
