Story

Since 2012, sponsored abseils from our tower have raised over £60,000. Now though, having earned its corn, the 15 century tower itself needs help. There’s a split in the lead at the base of our weathervane and water is warping timber in the bell chamber.

We don’t want to move from being a Listed Building to being a listing one,  so we have an abseil on our own behalf on Saturday, June 18.

Donations here are very welcome, but even better, why not have a go? It’s great fun - hundreds have already done it. You climb a medieval staircase inside one of the city’s landmarks, cop a great view of Oxford, then enjoy the adrenaline rush of zipping down in five seconds like the SAS, or Incy-Wincying down at leisure or maybe a bit of both. You’ll be is the safe hands of Witney Christian Group Adventure+. All Health and Safety angles have been covered.

About the charity

The Trust raises funds to support the mission of St Mary Magdalen, a church in the centre of Oxford whose ministry reaches far beyond that city. It is an island of stillness amid the rush of its surroundings, and houses an ever-growing worshipping community in the catholic tradition of Anglicanism.
