Story
Truro Cathedral's existing roof has been in place since the nave was completed in c1885-1908… that’s anything from 107 to 130 years! Over that time, the weather has taken its toll and the roof and original slates have deteriorated to the point they all now need replacing.
It will take 5 years and £3.2 million to complete the roof works. In October 2014, the cathedral received a government grant of £500,000 and, since the public launch of the Roof Appeal in July 2015, over £149,000 has been raised. This brings the current total to £649,737 and leaves £2.5m to raise.
Sign-A-Slate gives those making a donation the chance to sign or write a message on the back of one of the 60,000 new slates being used to re-slate the cathedral roof – a roof that will be in place, complete with those messages for generations to come. To find out more and how to take part in Sign-A-Slate, pop into the cathedral or visit: www.tcroofappeal.org.uk.
