Story
Life for refugees in Kampala is hard. Over 50% of refugee children are missing out on formal education. Lack of finance is the biggest barrier preventing them from accessing school and refugee parents are requesting education so that they can gain the skills they need to support their families and send their children to school. Most refugees do not have a safe space where they can meet, share experiences and enjoy learning. Xavier Project Tamuka Hubs will provide relevant education to children and adult refugees in Kampala in a safe space so that they can access opportunities available to them and integrate into Ugandan life.
With your support Xavier Project will open five more educational hubs in disadvantaged refugee communities across Kampala providing quality adult and child educational opportunities equipped with libraries, online and offline resources. The hubs are designed to be community run in a self-sustainable way but with inputs from technical staff where required.
