Story
Right guys, emotional blackmail time. I've set up this page as a means of legal extortion, because... I'm running a full marathon! in June! In Singapore! And I hate running! Did I mention it's a full marathon?
Why am I doing this, you may ask. Good question. The cause is very close to my heart so please scroll down and read my sob story and feel guilty and donate lots of money. Then you can feel really good about yourself and have an icecream.
I'm raising money for a charity in Sheffield called St Wilfrid's Centre, which supports the homeless, the vulnerable and the socially excluded. They took care of my uncle for the last few years of his life, as he was considered a 'vulnerable adult'. As a baby, he had a vaccine that went wrong, resulting in his brain being starved of oxygen and leaving him with permament mild brain damage.
For most of his life, my uncle James was taken advantage of, stolen from, and misunderstood by people. A few years before his death, he was fortunate enough to discover the St Wilfrid's Centre and become a part of their community, which really made a difference in his life.
Sadly my uncle is no longer around, so I am trying to raise money in honour of his memory so that the Centre can continue to help other people like him. To that end, I will be running the SINGAPORE SUNDOWN MARATHON on June 1st. As many of you know, running is not exactly my forte. I pledge to run, walk and most likely hobble my way around the full 42k route in return for your donations - no matter how big or small, the thought counts enormously and I will be eternally grateful to you.
Help me make a small difference!
