Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Our beautiful mum (and wife and granny), Cathie, passed away in St Leonard's Hospice, York on 8th June 2014, after a short but fiercely-fought battle with cancer.
St Leonard's is a very, very special place. Walking through the front door there always feels like walking into a big hug... In mum's last weeks, each and every member of staff at the hospice went out of their way to make sure she was as comfortable as possible and that we all got to spend a lot of time together as a family. The care, compassion and dignity with which the staff treat all of the patients (and their families and friends) is incredible and helped make what was a really difficult time for us feel calm and peaceful and full of love and laughter. We'll never forget the difference St Leonard's made to our last weeks with mum.
St Leonard's needs to raise £2.8 million every year to carry on doing the amazing work that they do and every penny counts. We've set this page up so that we can continue to raise funds in mum's memory for years to come and help the wonderful team at St Leonard's to keep up their incredible work. We've set ourselves a target of £10,000, which may well take us some time to reach but we're going to have fun trying! We'll update this page with any new fundraising ideas we come up with...
