Story

I am a member of a Christian Men's Group in Crowborough which is building a school at Chapsinja in Malawi. Through a registered charity called Starfish Malawi, we have provided funds for six classrooms for the projected eight-class primary school, and two accommodation units needed for teachers.

Up to now, these children have had no desks to sit at and all learning has had to take place on the floor.  However, just £12 will buy a locally made desk and chair for a child, and you can sponsor a desk by having your own name or that of a loved-one added to it. Just add this to a message with your donation.

With the sum raised by December 2014, locally-made desks and chairs for 60 pupils had been delivered to the school, with a further 50 smaller chairs ordered for the youngest (Standard I) children. Just last month, we also sent 44 children's chairs to Chapsinja by container. This is a tremendous start to our target of providing accommodation for all the children in the school.

Please help us to raise £2,000 so that we can provide the children in this village school with proper desks. Your help really will be greatly appreciated. You can find out more about the work of the Men's Group so far by visiting the 'Starfish Malawi' website or going to YouTube and browsing for 'Chapsinja'.

Why not ask your friends to get involved in helping us by linking this page to a Facebook or Twitter Account?  £12 can make all the difference in the world to a child's learning.

Thank you.
