Story

5 years on from cycling to Barcelona, I figure it's about time to stop resting on my laurels and do something that I will find equally difficult, in order to try and convince you to part with some of your hard earned cash!

If you know me, you'll know that I am inclined to violently protest at the notion of running. So what better way to torture myself this time, than to sign up for 4 x different running events on consecutive Sundays in September.

It will begin on Sun 4th September at Woodchester Park, with a "challenging multi-terrain race of approximately eight miles in a superb setting of lakes and woodlands"; followed by the Cardiff 10k;  the Swansea Bay 10k; and culminate in Bristol doing the Great Bristol Half Marathon.

No doubt it is the half marathon that I am most terrified by, so I will be putting in a lot of miles between now and then in efforts to best prepare myself, and hopefully not completely embarrass myself.

Of course I'm not doing this for the pure enjoyment! The money that I aim to raise from putting myself through this series of torturous events will be going direct to The Emily Jordan Foundation. A Kidderminster based charity to which I have close links and that aims to: "Support individuals with learning disabilities to lead fulfilled lives.”

The Foundation was set up following the death of one of my close friends from university, who tragically lost her life in 2008 whilst travelling in New Zealand. It's a huge testament to what Em would have achieved were we still lucky enough to have her around and I am incredibly proud of the success the Foundation has experienced to date, and feel humbled to have played some small part in helping. Through various projects / schemes, including Spokes, a successful social enterprise which trains young people with learning difficulties to enter the workplace, we are really able to help these individuals make valued contributions to society by gaining invaluable life and work skills. Long may it continue!

So I would be hugely grateful if you would sponsor me in my efforts to complete these events. Your money will be going to a truly worthwhile cause, and will also help me greatly with personal motivation when I'm really struggling with these runs!

Thank you so much.

Chris
