Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
The reason for challenging myself to cycle over 300 miles in two days from Hereford to Bangor and back on the 18th & 19th June 2016, has come through meeting Ange Tyler whose daughter Emma Louise Young (ELY) was tragically killed on the 30th September 2010 in a car accident. I am a Police Officer, a former Family Liaison Officer where my role was to inform parents and families the devastating information that their child or loved one had been fatally killed in a car accident. That day forward an FLO supports families where they begin their "Journey" coping with the loss their child or loved one. Understanding Ange's journey as a FLO has encouraged me to undertake this challenge to fundraise for her daughter's Charity.
The ELY Memorial Fund was set up in memory of Emma to offer a one-off condolence gift of £2,500 to help pay towards a basic funeral if a family who reside in Herefordshire tragically lose a son or daughter aged between 17 to 25 years in a car accident.
On my own personal journey of over 300 miles, I will cycle the Burway, Bwlch-y-Groes and Llanberis Pass. In particular, Bwlch-y-Groes has the highest tarmac in Wales. These are all category climbs and tough! Through your support I would like to raise £1,000 for ELY, however, £2,500 covers the cost of a basic funeral for one family. Could you help me achieve this for ELY?
