Story
Thank you so much for visiting this page. Please take the time to read my story.
I first heard about the Hope foundation 4 years ago, and I have been volunteering for them ever since. The Hope Foundation are an Irish charity who work with the street and slum children of Calcutta in India. Since it was founded in 1999, HOPE has set up girls and boys homes, care centres, education systems and healthcare facilities in Calcutta. My school nurse Theresa is a long-term volunteer with HOPE and she raises the funds to go out to Calcutta every year to work on the projects.
Last year, Theresa encouraged 4 students from the previous TY to raise the money to go to Calcutta on the schools trip at Easter. They all pulled together and managed to make the money. They went on the trip, and came back saying it was amazing, and it has changed how they live their lives now. They all want to go back and do more work.
Following in their footsteps, 9 students from my year are raising the money to go on the trip, which is just over a week long and involves playing with the children in the care homes, introducing them to our way of life and visiting numerous slums.
I really, really want to do my part for charity, and getting the chance to go on this trip - well it's a once in a life time opportunity, and I don't want to miss it. I have put so much effort and hard work into raising the money I need to go, but I am still not near enough to my target (€3100). Please, please take the time to give what you can to the charity through my page, as it will go to a great cause. Thank you, Clara.
13-02-2012 : Hello everyone, thank you so much to everyone who has donated to this great cause. I have now reached my target and am very happy to say I will be going on the trip to Calcutta on March 29th! I cannot wait to get out there and make the most out of this incredible experience. I will leave my page active for a little while longer so that you can donate to the hope foundation if you have not yet done so and still wish to do so!
Again, Thank you all so much for your generosity. All the best, Clara. x
