Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 20th November 2011, I will be embarking on an 80km trek through the Himalayan region of Nepal from near sea level up to 4200m above. Besides the trek itself, challenges include: great heights, raging rivers, avalanche risk, glaciers and crumbly mountain sides... I am attempting to complete it in 5 days.
I am raising money for the Cirdan Sailing Trust
- In short, I personally know the people who run this charity and have been overwhelmed by their selfless dedication to the cause.
- They organise sailing adventures for mentally, physically and socially disadvantaged young people – including inner-city kids, mentally and physically disadvantaged teenagers, and soldiers injured during service.
- Sailing is unique in the way it encourages teamwork, self-confidence and discipline as well as being great fun – the challenge provokes a real sense of responsibility and achievement. The results of just one adventure with Cirdan have been life-changing for those who have participated.
- I can tell you lots more about Cirdan – essentially, I know that every penny will go to these amazing experiences for disadvantaged young people (nb. all expenses of the trip are being covered privately, every donation will go direct to Cirdan).
- On the trek, to increase the chances of my survival, I am being accompanied by two Gurkhas who are also generously donating their time to the cause (and are apparently adept with a map & compass – bonus!).
- For more information on Cirdan, please see http://www.cirdansailing.com/
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Thanks very much for taking the time to visit my page, I'd be very grateful for any sponsorship.
