Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Cranstons are celebrating 100 years in business this summer. To celebrate this major milestone we wanted to give something back to the communities we serve.

A fund-raising team was formed and the slightly mad cap plan that a team of staff volunteers could cycle around all 6 of Cranstons shops in Cumbrian and Northumbria, a whopping 100 miles in a day raising money for local charity Hospice at Home was hatched.

Cranstons have been proud to be associated with Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland for almost 17 years. Many of our staff, their families and friends of the businesses have benefited from the wonderful service that Hospice at Home provide, often in extremely difficult circumstances.

It would be absolutely wonderful if we can raise a significant amount to help the Hospice continue their work. So if you feel able to our ‘’Butchers on Bikes’ would appreciate your support.

Our Butchers on Bikes….

David Law- Cranstons Production Unit Manager and cycling enthusiast. David will be rallying or should we say ‘’yelling at’’ the troops throughout the day, we did consider making him ride the companies vintage delivery bike to slow him down!

Martin Jones- Cranstons Retail Director. Martin’s willingness to participate in this tough challenge is pretty remarkable given the fact that he has recently received a brand new hip and is still recovering.

Philip Cranston- Cranstons Managing Director. I am told Philip has been seen out and about training hard as he doesn’t want any of the youngsters to out pedal him on the day…

Nick King- Head Chef Café Oswald’s. Nick is looking forward to a day out of the heat of the kitchen, but is he ready for the heat of the challenge?

Rob McManus- Rob enjoys a beer and has recently returned from a 2 week all inclusive holiday. I am told he has yet to start training so what can we say other than GOOD LUCK!

These guys (ok, most of them) have been putting in the hard miles so would really appreciate your support. The more messages and donations we can bring in the more motivation they will have during the tough parts of the day especially the long hard slog over Hartside Summit.
