Story
Please donate £20 to help CrossReach support children in desperate circumstances right here in Scotland, today.
Children like 6-year-old Samina.
Samina attends CrossReach’s Daisy Chain after school group. One day, they held a fun day for the group. The children made table decorations, decorated biscuits and invited their parents to come and share in a small buffet with them.
In between playing games, Samina tugged the sleeve of a Daisy Chain worker. She looked up at the worker and said “Miss, Miss! Please may I say thank you for the lovely day we are having?”
As the children left the fun day, they received small party bounty bags containing just a few wee knick knacks, such as hair elastics and small wrist bands. Without prompting, little Samina again came to our staff and, full of sincerity and genuine gratitude, said;
“Miss,I was having such a lovely day but now this bag
makes it feel like Christmas Day”
While many have so much and are ungrateful for the bounty they receive,
so many have so little and are so grateful for the little they do receive.
An hour of fun, a few craft activities and a small tea with her mother, finished off with a small bounty bag, had been such a precious gift to Samina who had so little. She overflowed with genuine gratitude and touched the hearts of the CrossReach team at Daisy Chain with her huge response to the little she had received.
Whatever the causes of poverty are that young Samina experiences, Jesus calls us to love our neighbours as ourselves. That will include demonstrating that love by helping those that are suffering unbearable hardship right here in Scotland right now. And you can join with us to demonstrate the love of Jesus and help families and children like little Samina by partnering with us. Just £20 can make such a difference.
CrossReach’s Daisy Chain project works from a local church in the centre of Govanhill. Govanhill is an area of Glasgow with over 50 language groups, poor housing, overcrowding and has one of the highest poverty, crime, alcohol and addiction rates in Scotland. Raising a child against this backdrop is a huge challenge, and it is a challenge that the staff at CrossReach’s Daisy Chain project are helping local families overcome.
This Christmas, we are giving each child at the Daisy Chain project, like little Samina, a small Christmas present as we celebrate the birth of Jesus.
Your present to them can be an hour of safety, of friendliness, of warmth, positive company, growth and development. Just £20, or more, or whatever you are able to give, will help us give a child and their parents, these wonderful gifts of love, peace, acceptance and security through just one hour of support at the Daisy Chain project.
This Christmas, please support CrossReach’s Daisy Chain as they reach out a loving, caring, friendly, supportive hand to parents who are doing their utmost to make a positive life for their children and family in difficult surroundings.
Please help Daisy Chain to demonstrate the true meaning of loving your neighbour as yourself, whatever their language, colour or beliefs. Just £20 will help us make such a difference for just one hour.
Or give a regular donation of £10 per month and help provide 6 hours of difference over the year. Please, help children like Samina and her family this Christmas.
In the name of those you will help and in some of their languages, we say: Mulțumesc, Dziękuję, Falemnderit, Благодаря, Děkuji, Ačiū, Ďakujem, Teşekkür, Ederim, Спасибі, Thank you.
