Story
As many of you will know, five years ago I walked around the coastline of Britain and raised £350,000 for Parkinson's research. As a lap of honour might be a little extreme, I have decided to walk from Coast to Coast along the Leeds & Liverpool canal between 11th and 23rd April 2008.
For those of you wanting to find out about my Coastin' walk in 2002-3, I have written a book about my journey entitled "Shake Well Before Use" which is published on 11th April and is available from www.cureparkinsons.org.uk 0207 929 7656. Alternatively, come to the Royal Geographical Society to hear me tell the story in my own words (with help from comedian Tony Hawks) on 1st May 2008 (6.15 pm)
I cannot walk at all without my medication. That is the nature of my disease. Some may therefore think it lunacy that I am walking 160 miles over 10 days to raise awareness into Parkinson's. On the other hand, I want to say "I used to have Parkinson's" and this is my way of helping.
