Story
Sharon Comiskey was an inspirational adventurer. Warm and generous to all she met, Sharon loved people, nature, travel - and her family and friends. Two years ago she died of breast cancer at the age of 40. Throughout her treatment, she always tried to live in the moment and enjoy the everyday magic of life. We know she would have loved Barretstown's ethos.
Barretstown offers free, specially designed camps and programmes for children and their families living with cancer or a serious illness – supported behind the scenes by 24 hour on site medical and nursing care. These camps let children be children, and give them the confidence, self esteem and the reassurance that happiness is not just for healthy children.
This Summer, some of her friends and family will be sharing a cycling adventure in Sharon's memory: to celebrate her love of Ireland, to raise money for a cause we know she'd be passionate about, and to make sure more children facing cancer can find fun and comfort in Barretstown's wonderful camps.
She'd have loved the idea of us getting together, having fun and taking on a madcap challenge. So, starting in Cork, we'll be cycling 450 km around the coast to Galway over 6 days. Everyone taking part is funding their own trip, so 100% of the money raised will go directly to Barretstown. Our cycle team is:
Jim Comiskey | Marie Leverett | Martin McGawley | Edel Egan | Kate Tyler | Jason Marks | Harriet Hall | Tony Hall | Niall Cassidy | Mark Geraghty
Thanks so much for your support. Whilst a couple of our team are committed cyclists, most of us are really taking on a challenge here. Your good wishes and support will help us combat the Irish hills and weather! Thank you!
