Story

Mental health problems affect at least 1 in 4 people in Scotland. For
many of you reading this, I'm sure you won't need to think too hard about for examples, and know first-hand the impact that poor mental health has on friends, family and the communities we live in.  Like me, you may also have seen the problems faced by those aiming to provide the best possible treatment.  Ever tighter NHS budgets and the need for personalised support for the varied types of mental health issues in Scottish society make providing the necessary support a huge challenge.

GAMH aims to fill this gap where it can by offering individualised
support for those with mental health problems as well as their carers.
From their service centres based all over the city, they provide more
than 2000 hours of community based support every week to people in Glasgow. GAMH goal is to work towards the time when ALL of Scotland's people will have full and equal citizenship rights regardless of their mental health status.
You can read more about the great work they do here:

Inevitably they rely heavily on public goodwill in order to keep this work
going, so any donations you can make would be incredibly welcome.

As for me, I’ve decided that at 32 it’s time I fulfilled an ambition and
finally pushed myself to get that first marathon under my belt. I’ve been
running in my own time for years, but this is the first time I’ve ever
attempted anything like this. I’ve been in training since March and I’m really happy with the progress I’ve made, but have no illusions about the challenge ahead.  I’m not a natural athlete and your
encouragement will definitely help me to push onwards towards the 26-mile mark. Any advice from more experienced heads is always welcome too!

The Kinloch Rannoch marathon winds its way around Loch Rannoch in
Perthshire, almost the dead centre of Scotland.  Relatively flat and in a stunning setting, I’ve been advised it’s a good spot for a first-timer like me, which I’m will make for a memorable day.  Run Scotland
organise the event and you can read more about it on their website.

No targets either in terms of time or money, I’ll be grateful just to
make it over the line, but any donations you can make would be a fantastic boost to a great charity and a wee bit of extra motivation for me to get to the end.
