On October 1^st this year myself, Rachel and my friends James, Adi, Rebecca, Nathan, Bex, Amie, Sacha, Steph Abi, Rochelle and Ben will be teaming up as Dexter’s Army to take part in the X Runner Wild Run. A 10k run along with over 60 obsticles to put us through our paces.

We will be wild running for our chosen charity, Milly’s Smiles.

As many of you know already, mine and James’ little nephew Dexter was diagnosed with Leukemia a year ago, Dexter was just 4 years old when we were hit with the sad news and none of us had any idea what lay ahead.
Dexter’s parents, Katie and Jonny have spent the last 12 months in and out of the Manchester Children’s Hospital with Dexter having intensive chemo, countless lumbar punctures, strong steroids which all along the way have made him extremely poorly.

A year on and Dexter is doing amazing! He’s able to attend school when he is well and is soldiering on part way through his 3 year treatment programme in true Dexter style. Still a long road to full recovery but he’s still smiling and making us laugh every day!!

The Charity chosen is is Milly’s Smiles which is a fantastic charity in Memory of a beautiful little girl called Milly who shared the same ward 84 as Dexter at the Manchester Children’s hospital. Sadly, Milly passed away in September 2015 after a brave fight of this awful blood disease. Milly’s mum set up Milly’s smiles which provides welcome packs to each newly diagnosed family onto ward 84 with essential and useful items which will help during the first few days / weeks of their hospital stay. Items that will help to comfort and bring a smile to the faces of the children. The money raised will help to make more of these welcome packs filling them with extra items including comfy fleecey blankets, pillows and journals for the children and families so they can chart their journey with notes, pictures and photos.

This is such a fantastic opportunity to raise a lot of money for a great cause and we will be inspired by the incredible courage, strength and dignity shown by Dexter and Milly right to the end. So come on guys, dig deep and donate now! We can make a difference :-)xxxxxxxxxxx
