On 22 May, I will be running 10k to raise funds for the Manchester-based youth charity N-Gage and would be really grateful if you would consider sponsoring me.

I've been working for N-Gage for about six months now and it's a charity which I care greatly about. Many of the youth that N-Gage work with are from highly troubled situations and it seems like their future is planned out for them from the start. The youth come from broken families, with parents who are on welfare or a minimum wage. These young people often have anti-social behaviour and and are at risk of exclusion from schools.

N-Gage works in partnership with the police, the city council and schools to help these young people reach their full potential through workshops, youth clubs and many other methods to both educate and simply keep the youth out of trouble.

On my first youth work session, a group of thirteen year olds came to the youth centre after stealing eggs and hurling them at passing cars - quite a shock after quiet Brunei! By having these youth work sessions available every evening, incidents like this are reduced as the young people are in a safe location and staying out of trouble.
