I'm running to raise funds for Haemophila Scotland because they are a massive source of support for our family. Our little boy Jacob was eventually diagnosed with severe Haemophilia B at 9 months old after he experienced unexplained bruising.

Haemophilia is a condition where your body lacks an essential clotting factor and sufferers are unable to stop bleeding in the usual way. Severely affected individuals (like Jacob) can also experience spontaneous bleeds, which occur without any obvious explanation. The most dangerous and worrying aspect of haemophilia is that most bleeds occur internally into muscles and joints. Therefore they cannot be seen but are extremely painful for the individual and, if left untreated, cause wear and tear of the joints. Over time, this damage becomes worse and many affected individuals develop arthritis at a young age.

Since Haemophilia is so rare, affected families typically dont know anyone in the same situation at diagnosis. It is a scary, isolating time and at this point, Haemophilia Scotland step in to bring families together. They organise family days, mums groups, dads groups - all designed to pull affected families together enabling us to support and encourage each other through diffcult times. Their support is invaluable, but comes at a signifcant cost. Please help me raise funds to enable them to continue to support my family and all the families like us....every penny counts and is appreciated more than you can ever know.....

Thank you
