Freddie For A Day is a celebration of the life of Freddie Mercury which falls around his birthday date (or whenever we Queen fans get the chance!). It is meant to engage members of the public in a fun way to remember one of our greatest artists, but behind it is the earnest purpose of raising funds to support the continued work in fighting HIV AIDS worldwide through the Mercury Phoenix Trust, the HIV AIDS charitable organisation set up in Freddie’s memory after his passing in 1991.

As early as 1992 the Queen Fan Club celebrated Freddie's birthday holding annual birthday party's in Oxfordshire as one of the many fund raising activities for the Mercury Phoenix Trust.  In 2010 the MPT formalized the day as "Freddie For A Day" encouraging tash wearing, FFAD T-shirt wearing or full #dressasfreddie parties and events to raise AIDS awareness and monies.

For the 2nd year in Europe, FFAD is being celebrate at Hard Rock Cafes.

WWRY London final performance  (31-May-14)

"Bohemian for a Day" in aid of MPT

 ====================================

Peeps,

My son and I (and hopefully a few others) are dressing as Bohemians for the final shows of WWRY in aid of MPT.

Having had Freddie's statue proud of place outside the dominion for the last 12 years (well 11 for the precise Queenies out there) and having his music, and the music of his best friends, play live nightly to standing ovations really made Freddie live on in a very explicit way.

It is so sad to see the show close, during that 12 years WWRY has been a significant part of our lives, particularly during the Queen quiet years, but Freddie will live on in our hearts.  As such it only feels right to do a little this weekend for the MPT who also keep his memory alive in such a very worthy way.

thanks for all your help.

Freddie's 22nd Anniversary (24-Oct-13) & World Aids Day (1-Dec-13)

 ====================================

Peeps,

With this weekend containing World Aids Day and last weekend marking the 22nd Anniversary of loosing our beloved Freddie...

Tonight I'm dressing as "Festive Freddie" in the audience of RTE's Late Late Show (Late Late Toy Show which is the annual Christmas edition) going out live.

I appreciate there are lots of opportunities to support the Mercury Phoenix Trust including Maureen and Team with our Bec this weekend in London but if you haven't had a chance to mark Freddie's anniversary and World Aids Day please consider donating.
