Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On Oct 23rd 2016 I will be running the Great South Run with my husband Andy. As a quite recently converted non-runner, 10 miles is an enormous achievement for me and I would love to raise a few pennies on the way to support a charity I really admire!
The Africa Children's Development Trust is a small charity run by a lovely friend of mine on the Isle of Wight which has helped to protect thousands of children in the slums of Kampala, Uganda, through the provision of life-saving mosquito nets and through education.
Now the charity founder, Nikki Collinson-Phenix is on a mission to help the mum's in Uganda who are living in poverty to take a step towards a better life for themselves and their families.
Her new project Chrysalis Uganda (a branch of the Africa Children's Development Trust) is helping mums in desperate need to overcome daily struggles such as keeping a roof over their heads and food on the table as a first priority, then hopefully to enable them to put their children through school, cover medical bills and perhaps one day buy a plot of land to build their own home.
These women do not want charity. They are proud. All they need is someone to help them up the first rung of the ladder. Chrysalis Uganda does this by providing small interest free micro financing loans with support and guidance along the way, enabling these women to establish their own business and grow themselves out of poverty.
Visit https://www.facebook.com/chrysalisuganda/ to learn more about the truly life-changing work of this charity. Your donation is not only helping these children and their families to survive immediate poverty but is allowing these women to step out of the shadows of poverty and into the light of business and hope, changing the present and future for themselves
