MOTIVATION
In this period of the 'economic crisis' employers have a great excuse to exploit and disregard working rights and undermine living conditions for profit. It seems to me that we were blessed with rights that we take for granted (vacations, 8 hour shift, weekends, insurance, healthcare ets) and rarely realise that they were established jut a few decades earlier through fights and huge sacrifices.
FILM PROJECT
On the 15th December 2009 I started a film project shooting slow motion video portraits with a DSLR camera, which I started to upload on Youtube
(http://www.youtube.com/movingfaces).
My aim is to shoot and upload 1.000 of those video portraits of people from all walks of life. Thisprocess will likely take me about 2 years.
When I was reading statistics I often came across huge numbers standing for human lives. I thought that by exposing a viewer to the mass of 1.000 moving faces, which nobody would have the time to browse through entirely, she or he would re-evaluate the meaning behind numbers we happen to read in surveys
The project proceeds as an online video project and once completed it could possibly become avideoart-installation. With the help of Web developer FotisChatzinikos, a projectwebsite is online in the address. (

CHARITY
Inspired by a friend, (
http://www.justgiving.com/Georgios-Cherouvim
) that used this site for a charity a couple of months ago, alongside a big cycling endeavour of his, and considering that millions of people do not have the option to simply 'quit a bad job' we decided to start this page alongside the portrait project and possibly inspire some people to donate to an organisation called Anti Slavery International (
). The project and the charity are two parallel activities however. We have to make clear that we do not take any money from the donations made on this site. We donated a bit of money ourselves after we visited the organisations site and informed ourselves on modern day slavery and we simply encourage you to read some of the facts they list there and decide for yourselves.
The following part of the message was ready made from Just Giving and I leave it as is...
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity
Thank you ever so much
